Title: Favorite Shoehorn Post by: nokotin on June 02, 2009, 10:42:14 PM In the spirit of General Discussion I've created this thread for us to share our favorite shoehorns with each other. I believe that by doing this we can bond and strengthen our community. Pictures are not necessary but encouraged.
My favorite shoehorn is the custom XG-519. Its in the standard 500 series, but what really sets it apart is the refined handle bar as well as the wooden finish. The main spoon has been replaced and customized with a rare oriental FG-40, the newest addition to the brand Hemingway used. I've also tried modding it myself with an F-chip and even though I'm new to the underground shoehorn scene, it works fantastic. For everone with an 500 series shoehorn, I highly recommend getting it modded. The good old Maxwell FX-19 does the job for me (http://www.sportys.com/shopmc/images/8461m.jpg).
Notice the modified handle, and the polished teak body. It is easy to use, and to customize with additional equipment. I have a flashlight and a scope attached to mine, for that extra precision. However I must admit that the standard 500 series mentioned by nokotin are prime models. Ah, yes back in the days they knew how to make a shoehorn. However I feel that the spoon on the XG-519 is a tad too slippery, and the round handle on some models in the standard 500 series was of rather bad quality. However I feel that the spoon on the XG-519 is a tad too slippery, and the round handle on some models in the standard 500 series was of rather bad quality. Who needs practicality and quality when you can have beauty and sheer awesomeness*. *not misused, the shoehorn honestly inspires awe. Title: Re: Favorite Shoehorn Post by: David on October 05, 2009, 11:41:00 AM Who needs practicality and quality when you can have beauty and sheer awesomeness*. Well considering the fact that the shoehorn is mainly a practical tool, practicality is definitely one of the key factors that would make one prefer a shoehorn. And hello?! Quality? Of course quality matters! If it didn't then we could just all make our shoehorns out of plastic now couldn't we? And if one shoehorn truly inspires awe, it is my Maxwell FX-19! The tiny hand on one side is actually a scratcher! So when my back itches and I am slipping into some comfortable shoes, I can scratch myself anywhere I want. If that doesn't inspire awe then nothing does. LIES! but in all seriousness... And hello?! There is only one thing I look for in a shoehorn, and that is it's ability to help me slip into my shoes. All the other features I could do without. I mean what's next? Shoehorns that massage your feet whilst tuning in on your favorite radio channel. No, I do not like it. This is my opinion on all products nowadays. When I buy a phone, I could care less about its 1 mega pixel camera and 10 megabyte mp3 player. It seems companies add features of inferior quality all so they can charge us extra. I mean look at the iPhone. To be honest, the lumps on the FX-19 make it seem like a sex device that one would shove up their rectum (pardon the profanity). |
